A Brief Analysis of the Middle East Question

by Daniel F. Rankin, Jr.
Pastor, Atoy Baptist Church
Rusk, TX
and History Professor
Angelina Community College, Lufkin, TX

It is true . . .

that no plan for peace in the Middle East will work, because Israel is the treasure buried by the man in Matthew 13. Until the Lord returns to dig up the treasure of great price, there will be no peace. Because the U.S. is in the process of removing from its culture the Judeo-Christian underpinnings, we will also turn against Jerusalem, as Zech 12, and 14 states.

The U.S. foolishly believes that if land is returned to the Palestinians, there will be peace. The key pieces, Gaza strip, Sinai peninsula, Golan Heights, etc, once in Israeli hands has kept the Arabs from a major military strike against Israel. When this happens again, major strikes will be attempted from the Arabs, who do not recognize the right of Israel to exist.

No peace until they do so. They will not.

As the Judeo-Christian model is eradicated from the collective mindset of the next generation, then the U.S. will no longer be an ally of Israel.

REVIVAL NOW!

Presented by Bro. Trey Lewis, Pastor
Kingston Road Baptist Church

Dr. R. G. Lee, the fabulous pulpiteer and eloquent preacher of a couple of decades ago said the following:

If all the lukewarm folks will FIRE UP;
If all the dishonest folks will CONFESS UP;
If all the disgruntled folks with SWEETEN UP;
If all the discouraged folks will CHEER UP;
If all the depressed folks will LOOKUP;
If all the estranged folks will MAKEUP;
If all the gossipers will SHUT UP;
If all the dry bones will SHAKE UP;
If all the true soldiers will STAND UP;
If all in debt will PAY UP;
If all the church members will PRAY UP;
THEN WE CAN HAVE A REVIVAL!

I want to see Revival and I pray that you do also. Here are some of the characteristics of one who is backslidden and in need of Revival:

ONE WHO FAILS TO READ THE BIBLE. Previously, it had a vital place in his life. Now he or she is too busy and has no desire to read it.

ONE WHO FAILS TO PRAY. No longer does he or she spend time with God, confessing sins, seeking spiritual guidance, and interceding for others. The Lord, because He is ignored, seems far away.

ONE WHO CRITICIZES OTHERS. He or she tries to ease the conscience by making out others as just as bad. One finds fault and magnifies it even to the point of lying exaggeration, the failures of others. He or she has not fallen from grace; but is grieving the Spirit of Grace.

ONE WHO MAY OR MAY NOT BECOME IRREGULAR IN CHURCH. One may be regular in church and be backslidden. He may even preach or teach. And too, one may become uncomfortable under Bible preaching and teaching and drop out of church.

ONE WHO STOPS GIVING. Greed replaces grace in his or her heart; so one stops giving

ONE WHO NO LONGER SEEKS TO WIN SOULS TO JESUS. He or she does not visit for the church. He or she does not witness. One’s compassion for souls is lost.

Friends, let’s be faithful to the services this week and REALLY ask God for Revival!

I love you and love being your pastor! -- Bro. Trey Lewis - SOURCE: KRBC Messenger

What Prayer Can Do

By June Goodman
Portland, Oregon

Ken and I were on our way to a village in Nigeria after spending 10 years as missionaries in Kumba, Cameroon. It was the middle of the West African dry season. We pulled our van, loaded with all our possessions, up at the edge of the Donga River, near the border. "I’m sorry," the ferryman told us. "The water is too low to cross with all that weight in your van. My barge will run aground if you don’t leave something here."

I looked out at the river in front of us. The ferryman had cause for concern. Rocks jutted from the low, slow-moving water. There was only one item we could remove from our van that would make us light enough to cross.

Wedged into the back was an upright piano—a gift from a British neighbor years before, during our fledgling days in Kumba. Ken had tuned and tinkered with it, and soon it sounded good enough to accompany us during Sunday hymns. Ken gave a few music lessons during the week. The piano became a bridge between us and the refugees in Kumba.

My husband and I traded glances, each hoping the other would have an answer. To leave that faithful old upright behind on the riverbank just didn’t seem right. God, this piano has been such a blessing to us and to our work in Africa. Please help us find a way to get it across the river.

Then I heard it—a soft tapping on the windshield. Raindrops! Before long the rain was coming down in torrents.

An hour later, the ferryman knocked on our window. "I think we can take you over now." We drove aboard the barge and it floated easily on the rain-swollen river. In no time we were across and on our way again.
