Revive us again, Fill each heart with Thy love, May each soul be rekindled With fire from above. — Mackay Without a heart aflame for God, we cannot shine for Jesus. from Our Daily Bread of June 21, 2004 Growing old but not retiring, For the battle still is on; Going on without relenting Till the final victory's won. —Anon. Retirement from our jobs—yes. Retirement from serving Christ—never! from Our Daily Bread of February 10, 2005 A LEADER NAMED RUSS We have a new leader named Russ; He is well prepared for us, He is full of vigor and vim; So we better be prepared for him. -- by Sally Willis - celebrating their new leader at CEDAR HILL (Sept 9, 2005) I AM WONDERFULLY MADE
I am wonderfully made that’s what the Bible said, From the very sole of my foot, to the top of my head.
When I was just a child and there was stooping to be done, "You are closer to the ground," they said. "You be the one." When I complained of backache, it nearly broke my heart, To hear "Your stomach and back are so close, how can you tell them apart?" Now I have problem stooping. Tying my shoes is a chore. I have no trouble at all telling the aft from the fore. I thank God for eyes that can be patched, for teeth that can be replaced, A nose that works, sometimes, too well and ears that are Conveniently spaced. I’m glad I have held up so well, this is a blessing I know, I know that I am wonderfully made, the "Bible told me so". Sallie Willis Shreveport, LA The Right Kind of Recall I walked along The dusty trail Leading to the creek I felt alone and lonely And wondered What I’d find I heard a splash And the laughter Coming from Under the bridge There standing In waist deep water Stood Pastor John He was baptizing Some childrenAnd all that Came to my mind Was the day That John the Baptist Did as Jesus asked And Jesus received God’s acknowledgement By a beautiful dove And a voice from heaven "This is my beloved Son." by Sallie Willis Shreveport, LA 1/9//03
FORGIVE
Forgive, O Lord, our severing ways,
The rival alters that we raise,
The wrangling tongues that mar thy praise!
Thy grace impart! In time to be
Shall one great temple rise to Thee--
The Church our broad humanity.
White flowers of love its wall shall climb,
Soft bells of peace shall ring its chime,
Its days shall all be holy time.
A sweeter song shall then be heard,
Confessing, in a world's accord,
The inward Christ, the living Word.
That song shall swell from shore to shore,
One hope, one faith, one love restore
The seamless robe that Jesus wore.
-- John Greenleaf Whittier
